  • The Ottawa Skiff Regatta got off the ground this year with its first edition of the Ottawa Skiff Regatta and the first stop in the 2004 NE GP.

    4 29ers attended the event that was won by Team Waldie/Bougie-Bastien.Waldie/Bougie-Bastien have been one of the top 29er sailors in Canada for the last year and are now looking to complete there 29er career and head for the 49er. They are looking to attend 29er Canadians and NAs as well as represent Quebec in next year 2005 Canada Summer Games.

    "We are feeling pretty comfortable in the 29er now a days" say Waldie. "We just completed the Bethwaite Camp in Montreal Last week and received some great tips and tricks from Julian for making the 29er go fast".

    Waldies Crew Bougie-Bastien added "all the 29er sailing we are doing is really paying off and it should transfer nicely into our 49er campaign. We should be getting our new 49er within the next few weeks and we are so stoked!!!!'"

    I asked them about the 2005 29er Worlds in San Francisco Bay next July. Waldies Reply " ....well any regatta in SF Bay in during the Summer will HOWL, We just may finish off with that Regatta.......we'll see, the summer is just starting."

    The Montreal Skiff Scene has made some huge jumps over the last year. The small group of 29er sailors from the past 3 yrs have now all moved in the 49er that now tallies into a group of 5 49er training out of the Quebec Sailing Base at the Lord Reading YC.
