- 2005 Coronado YC Fall One Design Regatta
- This year the 29er Class was invited to the Coronado YC Fall One Design Regatta Series. This is a new venue for the 29er Class in SoCal based mainly on the new development teams coming out of Sabots. John Rogers, Bill Maxam and Rob Dean were instrumental in organizing a successful event that kick starts the SD 29er fleet in their training for the 2007 Youth Worlds and 2006 US Youth Champs.

The Class decided that this was an important enough event to get our top skiff sailors to help out in providing a "what you need to know" Clinic. Alex Bernal and Cameron Biehl taught the new teams (100 pounders) the basics in skiff racing. Saturday was a bit rough with 12-15 knots of wind and chop, which lead to the decision for Sunday to be a clinic only venue in Glorieta Bay. The sailors were smiling as they were de-rigging on Sunday. They loved the speed aspect and new concepts of skiff sailing.

We were very impressed by the quick learning ramp of the sailors, as they were excited by the new thrill. Hans Henken, Judge Ryan, Sally Harris, CC Chides, Shone Bowen, Diego Gomez Hall, Nevin Snow and Jon Rogers deserve a big thank you for their participation in the first of many skiff clinics at Coronado YC. We were particularly pleased with the girls - they seemed to be tougher than the boys - after many capsizes. We would also like to thank the parents that put the energy in getting the kids there with enthusiasm. All with smiles.
